Anthropology is the holistic study of what makes us human. Mercer University’s anthropology degree provides solid grounding in methodological and theoretical approaches to understanding human cultural diversity. Computational science is a new discipline that combines course work in applied mathematics and computer science. Students will learn to use advanced computing capabilities to understand and solve complex problems.

Specialize in computer engineering and focus on the design of systems which operate in real-time with computers embedded in the system as a component or controller. Courses explore electronics fundamentals, general engineering fundamentals, engineering design, and computer system principles.

Mercer’s Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) with a major in Computer Science Education prepares undergraduate students to teach adolescents in grades 6–12 key computer science skills and concepts. Through this program, students will gain an academic perspective that values the individual and authentic worth of the adolescent through the inclusive lens of the regular classroom.

Students who declare a computer science major build a strong foundation in knowledge of programming languages, algorithms and data structures, software methodology and tools, and computer hardware. This foundation supports further study in advanced courses such as computer graphics, digital logic design, artificial intelligence, and software engineering.

Students in the creative writing program expand their comprehension of books and writing across genres, with the opportunity to focus on poetry writing, fiction writing, or drama writing.

Criminal justice is an interdisciplinary program that includes courses within the social sciences and humanities. Through the program, students gain an understanding of criminal law, law enforcement, judicial processes, and other aspects of the criminal justice system such as the relationship between crime and society. Students in the criminal justice program leave Mercer prepared for employment in agencies such as the FBI, GBI, DEA, and Homeland Security, or for  graduate school and professional degree programs in fields such as law, criminology, law enforcement, and public affairs.
