A Stronger Endowment
The University raised more than $153 million for scholarships that continue to provide vast opportunities for Mercer students and advance programs across the University. More than 400 endowed or expendable scholarships and funds were created that will support generations of students, and a total of 12 endowed professorships and chairs were created during the campaign to attract and retain top faculty. Planned gifts have also provided additional support for endowed funds that will make education more affordable and accessible for students now and in years to come.
Enhanced University Facilities
The campaign also prioritized capital projects to support construction or renovation of more than 30 facilities on the Atlanta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah campuses.
Expanded Capacity to Achieve the University’s Mission
The driving force of Mercer is its mission. Driven by our mission, our students see and touch the world they are trying to impact through programs and experiences that take them beyond their comfort zones and beyond our borders. In the process, they learn to understand everything more deeply and have a greater impact.

Mercer follows the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) Global Reporting Standards for calculating gifts received and pledged during the campaign timeframe. All unrestricted gifts (Mercer Athletic Foundation, school/college annual funds), restricted gifts (endowed funds, scholarships, etc.) and in-kind contributions were counted in this comprehensive campaign. In addition, certain planned gifts and pledges (charitable trusts/annuities/life estates/wills) were counted using formulas based upon a donor’s age. These and other campaign guidelines are consistent with best practice policies employed at CASE member institutions.
